Not being able to see family members has been one of the biggest challenges Stoney River residents faced while sheltering in place due to COVID-19. Fortunately, restricted visits implemented in mid-March helped to keep our residents and team members safe, and now, at long last, Stoney River’s patio is open for family visits!
“We are thankful for the family visits and happy to do whatever it takes to make it work, even if we look funny!” said Stoney River resident Ardene’s daughter, Cheri, about a recent in-person visit. Cheri went on to explain, “Mom has such a soft voice, unless she is yelling at Dad, which is why we are talking to each other on our phones.”
During their visit, Ardene and Cheri had to keep a safe distance of at least six feet apart and adhere to other protocols Stoney River put in place to protect residents and guests.
Family and friends must schedule visits in advance by calling Stoney River at 715-207-6423. All visits are held outdoors, weather permitting, on the patio with only a few guests spaced apart for a limited time. Face covering must be worn while walking to and from the designated visitors’ area but can be removed while socializing. Stoney River is currently planning and will soon share a program to safely introduce in-person visits for our Memory Support residents.
In another step toward normalcy, Stoney River began hosting large outdoor group programming and small indoor group programming of 6 to 8 residents, all wearing face coverings and practicing social distancing. While re-introducing these freedoms, Stoney River moves forward with an abundance of caution.
All events and large group gatherings remain on hold. Staff and visitors receive health screenings, including a temperature check, before entering the community. Team members wear masks and other PPE as required, advanced and thorough cleaning procedures continue, and residents and team members regularly undergo COVID-19 testing.
Stoney River is pleased to welcome visitors within these new guidelines and thanks families for their ongoing cooperation when it comes to supporting residents’ safety and wellbeing. Welcome back!
